There is something about a senior session that feels extra special when it reflects who they really are.

Everett brought his truck to his session, and honestly, it made the entire shoot. Not just because it looked incredible in the golden light, but because it told his story. This is what I love most about senior sessions. They are not just photos. They are a snapshot of this exact season of life before everything changes.

Why Personal Details Matter in Senior Sessions

One of the first things I tell seniors is this

Bring something that feels like you.

For Everett, that was his truck. For someone else, it might be sports, music, or even just a favorite place.

Those little details do two important things

They make you feel more comfortable

And they make your photos feel meaningful years from now

Golden Hour + Idaho Landscapes = Magic

We shot this session during golden hour, and it could not have been more perfect.

That warm light hitting the hills, the soft tones in the grass, and the way it wrapped around him while he leaned on the fence and sat in his truck… it all came together so naturally.

Boise and the surrounding areas have some of the most beautiful, simple backdrops, and sessions like this are a reminder that we do not need anything overly complicated to create something timeless.

Keeping It Relaxed (Especially for Senior Guys)

Let’s be honest, senior guys are not always thrilled about photos at first.

But this is where I keep things really simple and laid back.

We talked, moved around, used the truck, and kept things natural. Nothing overly posed or stiff. Just small adjustments and letting him settle into it.

By the end of the session, you could see the confidence come through, and that is always my goal.

What to Bring to Your Senior Session

If you are planning your senior photos, here are a few simple ideas

A vehicle (like Everett did)

A hobby or sport you love

Layers or a second outfit

Something that feels like your everyday style

You do not need a lot. Just something that helps tell your story.

Senior Photos That Feel Like You

These are the photos you and your family will look back on years from now.

Not because of perfect poses, but because they captured who you were in this moment.

That is always my goal with every senior session.
